Downtown Tacoma transit gears up for construction

Tacoma Link, ST, PT and IT buses make way for construction on Commerce Street

Work on Tacoma Link's concrete guideway along Commerce Street in downtown Tacoma means train and bus riders will temporarily make their transit connections on Pacific Avenue.

When work begins on Aug. 8, free Tacoma Link buses will run on a route and schedule similar to the trains, and Pierce Transit, Intercity Transit and ST Express buses that normally use the Commerce Street transit center will be temporarily relocated to Pacific Avenue between South 9th and South 11th streets.

During construction, access to businesses and parking lots on Commerce Street will be maintained, but on-street parking along Pacific Ave between South 9th and South 11th streets will be suspended to help the flow of heavy bus traffic in the temporary location. Construction is scheduled to last nine days from Aug. 8 to Aug. 16.

Southwest Corner of Pacific Avenue and S. 9th Street (temporary stop)
Just south of S. 14th Street (temporary stop)
S. 19th Street & Pacific Avenue (temporary stop)
25th Street Station
Tacoma Dome Station
