reel icon Night owls in SeaTac, Kent and Des Moines may have spotted trains running between Angle Lake and the yet-to-open Kent Des Moines Station on the Federal Way Link Extension doing live wire testing. The testing runs the trains with the overhead power system activated to see what adjustments may need to be made to the overhead catenary system, which supplies power to the trains. In the coming months, people can expect to see more testing, starting with trains being towed on the line, and then followed by trains operating on their own power. Celebrate late, ride safe! Link light rail and Sound Transit Express buses are fare-free from 4 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, to 3 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1. The 1 Line will operate on an extended schedule on #NewYearsEve with 15-minute, late-night service. The last southbound trip will leave Lynnwood Station at 2:01 a.m. The last northbound train will leave Angle Lake Station at 1:55 a.m. Service will not be extended on the 2 Line for New Year’s Eve. 🔗 in bio for more info on ALL of the regional transit running for Fare Free New Year's Eve! #SoundTransit #NYE2025
