After a year-and-a-half of working together with the community, officials from Sound Transit, the City of Puyallup, Pierce Transit and the Washington state Department of Transportation will co-host a ceremonial groundbreaking of the new South Hill Park-and-Ride lot on Monday, Aug. 21, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m., located northwest of the SR-512 and 94th St. interchange at the intersection of 104th St. E. and 9th St. SW in Puyallup.

The $5.9 million, 350 parking stall South Hill Park-and-Ride lot is just one of 48 capital improvement projects being built by Sound Transit's Regional Express department which includes new transit centers, park-and-ride lots and high-occupancy vehicle ramps. Regional Express is also introducing the ST Express bus system, a strategic web of at least 18 routes providing two-way all-day bus service connecting the major urban centers of Bellevue, Everett, Tacoma and Seattle with numerous cities and communities in Central Puget Sound.

Along with ST Express, Sound Transit is building Sounder commuter rail running 82 miles between Everett and Tacoma/Lakewood and Link light rail, a 21-mile system connecting the cities of SeaTac, Tukwila and Seattle and a 1.6-mile system in Tacoma.
