Latest environmental studies available for comment

Sound Transit invites the public to comment on the latest East Link environmental studies at a public meeting following the Thanksgiving holiday break. Sound Transit, the Federal Transit Administration and the Washington State Department of Transportation have prepared a Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement (SDEIS) to address new information, alternatives and design modifications for the East Link project.

A public hearing to gather comments on the latest work will be held:

Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010
4 to 7 p.m., public hearing begins at 5 p.m.

Bellevue City Hall,
450 110th Ave. NE,
Bellevue, WA

The new alternatives and design modifications were developed and evaluated in response to comments received on the 2008 Draft Environmental Impact Statement (Draft EIS), discussions with partner agencies and community members, and direction received by the Sound Transit Board.

Following completion of the public comment period on Jan. 10, 2011, the preferred alternative and all other alternatives will be described and analyzed in the East Link Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) along with proposed mitigation measures. The FEIS will also document and address comments received on the Draft EIS and SDEIS.  Following the publication of the FEIS, anticipated in mid-2011, the Sound Transit Board of Directors will make a final decision on the route, station, and maintenance facility locations to be built for the project.

Check out the SDEIS at local libraries, the Sound Transit office, or at www.soundtransit.org/eastlink.
