Members of the news media will have their first opportunity on Friday December 20 for pictures of a new Sound Transit Tacoma Link vehicle during test operations. Reporters, photographers and TV crews should meet Sound Transit personnel at the Tacoma Link Operations and Maintenance Base at 802 E. 25 Street, Tacoma shortly before 10 a.m.

Also this week, Sound Transit and the merchants of Freighthouse Square are joining forces December 19-22 to present a public preview of the new Tacoma Link Light Rail vehicles. The public will be able to view - and walk through - one of the sleek new vehicles at two locations. On Thursday and Friday (12/19-20) there will be an open house from noon to 4 p.m. at the Tacoma Link Operations and Maintenance Base. On Saturday and Sunday (12/21-22) the vehicle will be on display from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Freighthouse Square.

On December 21-22 families will be able to enjoy "The Santa Train" while they visit the unique shops and eateries at Freighthouse Square. People are also encouraged to bring donations of non-perishable food for the Emergency Food Network.

Sound Transit's Tacoma Link Light Rail system will go into service in September, 2003 with trains running every 10 minutes between Tacoma Dome Station and the Theater District in Downtown Tacoma.
