Sound Transit launches three new ST Express bus routes

Three new limited-stop ST Express bus routes begin service this weekend, including direct express bus service between the Eastside and Sea-Tac International Airport.

  • ST Express route 540, the Bear Creek - University District Express begins two-way service on Saturday, September 16, offering both weekday and weekend service between Redmond and the University District in Seattle.
  • New ST Express route 545/546, the Redmond - Seattle Express, begins service on Monday, September 18, between Redmond and downtown Seattle and will offer two-way weekday service.
  • ST Express route 560, the Bellevue - Sea-Tac Express, will begin providing limited-stop direct bus service between the Bellevue and the airport offering two-way weekday and weekend service.

Specific route and schedule information can be found in Sound Transit's new "Get Ready to Ride" booklet that is also making its debut with the introduction of these new services. The booklet also contains information about Sound Transit's new Sounder commuter rail service that a begins service on Monday. Sounder will start with two morning trains between Tacoma, Auburn and Seattle and two return trains in the evening. Additional stops will be added in the coming weeks and months as stations are completed in Kent, Sumner, Puyallup and Tukwila.

ST Express bus service and Sounder rail service are parts of Sound Move, the regional transit plan approved and funded by the region's voters in 1996.
