Sound Transit seeks public input on transit-oriented development near U District station

Property in the core of the U District will be available for future development

Publish Date

Sound Transit is seeking public comments on the future development near the soon to open U District station in Seattle. Located at 1000 NE 45th Street, the 18,000 square foot property was used for mobile offices while the Northgate Link Extension was being built. Now that work on the extension is nearing completion, Sound Transit is planning for future transit-oriented development. Community feedback collected through an online survey will be used to inform our goals and priorities for development on this property.

The survey is available now through July 5. Visit bit.ly/UDistrictTOD to learn more and complete the survey. The survey is available in Chinese, English, and Spanish.

This fall, Sound Transit will expand light rail to the U District, Roosevelt and Northgate. In 2022, Tacoma Link will expand to the Hilltop neighborhood. In 2023 trains will reach Mercer Island, Bellevue and the Overlake area. In Link light rail will expand to Federal Way, Lynnwood and Downtown Redmond.
