Sound Transit and King County Metro staff will be on site to inform riders about the opening of the new Overlake Transit Center at NE 40th and associated service changes

10:00 a.m. Student assembly at Stewart Elementary School

Stewart Elementary School will hold a student assembly for students to meet Zap Gridlock and participate in Sound Transit's education curriculum, including train and construction site safety and how to ride buses and trains.

11:00 a.m. Everett Station Grand Opening

SE of downtown (between Pacific Ave. and 35th St.), Everett

Gov. Gary Locke, City of Everett representatives, and Sound Transit Board members will celebrate the official opening of the Everett Station. The station, which will begin serving ST Express and other buses on Sunday, February 3, will also feature Sound Transit's Sounder commuter rail service in the future.

Representatives from area transit agencies (including Sound Transit) and other occupants / users of the Everett Station facility will have information available at the open house.

The Community Development Fund (CDF) Steering Committee will provide information on proposals for how the CDF could assist impacted businesses and property owners along the Martin Luther King, Jr. Way South light rail alignment and how the CDF Board may be formed. The forum will also gather input on the kinds of projects the CDF could fund (and that would support the long-term livability of the Rainier Valley community).
