Sounder Commuter Rail Service resumes normal schedule

Publish Date
Body

Sound Transit's Sounder Commuter rail service will return to its normal schedule this afternoon between Seattle and Tacoma. The first two of this morning's three northbound Sounder trains were cancelled because of a three-alarm fire in a restaurant near the Sumner Sounder Station. All Sounder trains will be on their normal schedule tomorrow. (See below for complete schedule)

While there was no damage to Sound Transit facilities or the Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks this morning, rail service was halted so it would not interfere with firefighters on the scene. Sounder service between Everett and Seattle was not affected.

Working with our partners at King County Metro and Pierce Transit, backup bus service was provided this morning for Sounder customers. Sound Transit rapid-response teams were dispatched to Sounder stations between Tacoma and Seattle to direct commuters to either the special buses or to nearby regular bus service.

Commuters can subscribe to receive Sound Transit's e-mail alerts at www.soundtransit.org.
