Recent and upcoming Link light rail openings mean there will be changes to existing ST Express bus service. Learn what these changes could look like for you.

Summary of ST Express Service Proposals

ST Express service changes would be implemented beginning fall 2026.

The implementation of these proposals is subject to operational capacity at our partner agencies and may be partially implemented or deferred.

 

No major service changes are proposed for the following ST Express bus routes: 510, 512, 532, 542, 545, 560, 566, 577, 578, 590, 592, 594, 595, and 596. 

  • Add northbound service in the AM peak

  • Add southbound service in the PM peak

  • Remove stop at Eastmont Park & Ride due to very low usage

  • Riders who use Eastmont Park & Ride can use South Everett Freeway Station or bus stop at 19th Ave SE & Burley Dr 

  • Discontinue route 

  • Riders can use more frequent and higher-capacity 1 Line and 2 Line service

  • Combined 1 Line and 2 Line service between Lynnwood City Center and International District/Chinatown will have 4-minute headways during weekday peak hours. 

  • Reroute to Shoreline South/148th Link station via NE 145th Street

  • Replace service on Lake City Way NE with future King County Metro Routes 72 and 77

  • Increase service frequency to 15 min all day

  • Extend hours of service to 1 a.m., 7 days a week

  • Riders transfer to Link 1 Line and 2 Line trains at Shoreline South/148th station  

  • Increase Saturday frequency to 30 minutes (remaining 60 minutes between buses after 7 p.m.)

  • New Sunday service with same level of service as Saturday 

  • Discontinue Route 554 

  • Replace Route 554 with more frequent Route 556 service and 2 Line service 

  • Shorten Route 556 to Bellevue Transit Center

  • Increase frequency on Route 556 to 15 minutes for most of the day

  • New stops in Issaquah on Route 556 

  • Shorten to end at Federal Way Downtown Station instead of SeaTac/Airport

  • Increase service frequency to 15 minutes for most of the day

  • Riders can transfer to 1 Line at Federal Way to connect to SeaTac/Airport, Seattle, and beyond 

  • New Overnight Service Proposal (see below) would replace late night/early morning 574 service  

  • New stop at Lakewood Station would replace current Lakewood Transit Center stop

  • Riders who currently start their trip at the Lakewood Transit Center could park at Lakewood Station or the SR-512 Park & Ride (10617 S Tacoma Way) and take Route 574 from there. Lakewood Station garage has 601 parking spaces. SR 512 Park & Ride has 493 spaces.

  • Lakewood Transit Center riders can also take Pierce Transit routes 3 or 4 from the Lakewood Transit Center to the SR-512 Park & Ride, adding approximately 4-6 minutes to their trip. 

  • Discontinue route

  • Riders can use Pierce Transit Route 400 or park at the 510-space garage at Puyallup Station  

  • Discontinue route

  • Riders can use Routes 577, 578, 590, 594, and 595 (or Sounder S Line) and Link 1 Line or 2 Line, with service to the University of Washington and a similar or better travel time. 

  • New overnight service when Link is not running between 1-5 a.m.

  • Lakewood – Seattle via SeaTac

  • Redmond – Seattle via Bellevue

  • Everett – Seattle

  • Service naming, as well as specific routing, stops and schedules are still being reviewed.
