Celebrate the ‘bubble tea capital of Seattle’: Take transit to Boba Fest in the U District

Publish Date

Seattle Boba Fest returns to the U District for its fourth year to celebrate the internationally popular treat this Saturday, July 19, from noon to 6 p.m.

Whether you routinely indulge in bubble tea, prefer it on the rare occasion, or have yet to try some that’s convinced you of the hype, Boba Fest welcomes all.

And the best way to get there is via transit – just hop off the 1 Line at U District Station!

There will be over 23 participating restaurants and cafes to choose from this year. Each one will offer a one-day-only boba or boba-inspired treat, and many will be giving away bubble tea swag.

For the first time ever, Boba Fest will feature all-day live entertainment, artist market, and cosplay contest outside of U District Station at NE 43rd and Brooklyn. The U District Partnership will also have a welcome tent set up nearby to answer questions or respond to any concerns during the event.

To allow visitors to move safely and freely throughout the event area, the block of Brooklyn between NE 45th and NE 43rd will be closed to through traffic as part of the event, as well as the block of NE 43rd between Brooklyn and University Way.

Getting there

The 1 Line will operate on its usual weekend schedule with trains set to arrive at U District Station every 10 minutes. If you plan to take the 542 from Redmond, buses are scheduled every 30 minutes.
