Leave the car, take the stage: Free rides to STG’s Performing Arts Series

Publish Date

Seattle Theatre Group (STG) is taking a bold step towards making the arts more accessible — not just in auditorium seats, but on the journey to get there.

In a move that marries culture with equitable mobility, STG will now offer subsidized transit rides (while supplies last) via the Transit GO app for attendees of its Performing Arts Series.

Why this matters

For many, transportation is a hidden barrier to enjoying live performances. Parking fees, long commutes, or gaps in accessible transit can deter would-be attendees.

By helping to cover the cost of transit, STG is reducing that barrier and signaling that the arts are for everyone — no matter where they live.

This initiative aligns closely with STG’s broader mission of accessibility, diversity, and inclusion. With it, STG is ensuring that the first step in attending a show — getting to the theater — is less of an obstacle.

STG’s subsidy of Transit GO rides isn’t just a convenience perk—it’s a statement. It says: the arts belong to the whole community, not just those with the means to drive or park downtown. It says our civic infrastructure (transit) and our cultural institutions can partner to deepen inclusion.
