May preview: Take transit to these exciting events

Welcome to our May events preview, where we highlight some of the best happenings near Sound Transit stations. 

From cultural celebrations and live music to street fairs and boat parades, May is packed with exciting events across the Puget Sound region. Whether you're looking to explore, cheer, or just soak up the sunshine (fingers crossed) — there’s something here for everyone! 

Fairs and festivals 

  • May 1–4: Puyallup RV Show at the Washington State Fair Events Center 
    Explore the latest in RVs and outdoor adventure gear at this annual show.  

  • May 3: May Day in Fremont 
    Celebrate the beginning of summer with a community potluck picnic, flower headdress making, children's crafts and games, live music, and of course a dance around the Maypole. 

  • May 4: Cinco de Mayo Celebration at El Centro de la Raza 
    Join this family-friendly celebration filled with traditional music, dance, food, and community spirit honoring Mexican heritage.  

  • May 9–17: Seattle Beer Week at Various Locations 
    Raise a glass and celebrate Seattle’s beer scene with tap takeovers, tasting events, and brewery specials all over town. 

  • May 10: 2 Line Extension to Downtown Redmond Opening Day! 
    Celebrate the opening of the Marymoor Village and Downtown Redmond stations with a ribbon cutting event, family-friendly activities, and community fun. Be among the first to explore this exciting new connection on the Eastside! 

  • May 10: Beacon Beacon Arts Street Fair in Beacon Hill 
    This neighborhood fair features local artists, vendors, live performances, and a welcoming community vibe. 

  • May 10: Dino Fest 2025 at the Burke Museum 
    Perfect for families and dino lovers of all ages—explore fossils, dig pits, and dino-themed activities all day long. 

  • May 10: Washington State Toy Show at the Washington State Fair Events Center 
    A collector's dream! Browse, buy, and trade toys from every era at this massive toy show in Puyallup. 

  • May 10–11: Flower Festival at Pike Place Market 
    A sea of fresh blooms, handmade bouquets, and colorful spring energy — don’t miss this iconic celebration of flowers and farmers. 

  • May 15–25: Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) 
    One of the largest film festivals in the country returns with international films, indie gems, and engaging Q&As with filmmakers. 

  • May 17: Seattle Super Saunter Long-Distance Trekking Event 
    Challenge yourself with this scenic, self-guided walking trek that invites participants to complete up to 20 miles at their own pace. It’s a great way to experience the beauty of Seattle’s parks, trails, and neighborhoods — while getting your steps in! 

  • May 17–18: U District Street Fair 
    Celebrate community and creativity at this beloved Seattle tradition with food vendors, artists, and live entertainment. 

  • May 30–June 1: Bite of Greece in Capitol Hill 
    Experience Greek culture with food, dancing, and music at this annual cultural festival in the heart of Capitol Hill. 

  • May 30–June 1: Arts Explosion 2025 at the Federal Way Performing Arts and Event Center  
    Enjoy a vibrant weekend of performances, visual art, and interactive exhibits at this family-friendly community arts festival. 

  • May 31: Parke Diem at Volunteer Park 
    Celebrate the outdoors and community with live music, pop-up vendors, and park-themed activities in this all-day event. 

Concerts, sports, and performances 

  • April 16–May 4: Parade at The 5th Ave Theater 
    Don't miss the final performances of the award-winning musical Parade, a moving story of love and justice. 

  • May 1: Raveena at the Showbox 
    Enjoy the dreamy vocals and R&B vibes of Raveena in an intimate live setting. 

  • May 2: Party on the Cut at the Montlake Cut near the UW Waterfront Activity Center 
    Kick off Opening Day boating weekend with this student-powered party featuring food, music, and lots of fun by the water. 

  • May 2: Denzel Curry at the Showbox Sodo 
    Get ready for a high-energy performance from one of hip-hop’s most dynamic artists. 

  • May 3: Windermere Cup and Opening Day Boat Parade at the Montlake Cut 
    Watch top-tier rowing teams and enjoy the festive boat parade as Seattle kicks off the summer boating season in style. 

  • May 3–4: Central Cee at the Showbox Sodo 
    Catch this rising UK rapper as he brings his sharp lyrics and global hits to Seattle. 

  • May 6: Chase Shakur at Neumos 
    Experience the soulful sounds of Chase Shakur live in this cozy Capitol Hill venue. 

  • May 6–11: Six the Musical at Paramount Theatre 
    The queens of Six hit the stage with this modern, high-energy retelling of Henry VIII’s wives—with plenty of sass and sparkle. 

  • May 10: Beat the Bridge Run at Husky Stadium 
    Run (or walk!) to raise funds for Type 1 diabetes research in this fun, fast-paced event that literally races to beat the bridge. 

  • May 12–13: Hippo Campus at the Showbox 
    Get ready for an indie-rock dance party with Hippo Campus’ feel-good tracks and electric stage presence. 

  • May 13: FERG at the Showbox Sodo 
    Don’t miss FERG’s energetic mix of rap and trap in what’s sure to be a lively night. 

  • May 17: Kendrick Lamar and Sza at Lumen Field 
    Two of hip-hop and R&B’s biggest names unite for an epic stadium concert—this one’s a can’t-miss. 

  • May 17: Edmonds Jazz Connection 
    This student-focused festival brings smooth jazz to Edmonds with free performances by local school groups. 

  • May 24: Stray Kids at T-Mobile Park 
    K-pop fans—get ready! Stray Kids take over the stadium for an unforgettable show. 

  • May 27: James Arthur at Marymoor Park 
    Enjoy a night of acoustic ballads and big pop hits from James Arthur in this outdoor concert experience.
