Summer of soccer starts here: How to ride to watch parties in and around Seattle

Publish Date

The Seattle Sounders kick off their FIFA Club World Cup campaign on June 15 against Brazilian club Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas, and you shouldn’t only watch at home.

It’s summertime! The sun is (finally) out, temperatures are (hopefully) higher than 65°F, and there is nothing like watching the beautiful game with fellow fans, especially when tickets are out of reach.

Where should you go? If you’re near Link light rail, there are some options.

Downtown Seattle

The Downtown Seattle Association (DSA) is throwing five watch parties at Westlake Park, just a short walk from the 1 Line's Westlake Station. Expect food, giveaways, and a livestream of all three Sounder home matches against Botafogo, Atletico Madrid, and Paris St. Germain, plus two semifinal games.

Pioneer Square

The DSA, along with the Sounders and HOMETEAM, are hosting a RAVE Meets World: Community Fan Fest at Occidental Square. On the Sounders’ game days, the square will have a small soccer pitch, family activities, food carts, and more for match attendees or those seeking a relaxed viewing experience. Just take the 1 Line and stroll over from Pioneer Square Station.

Redmond

We got you, Eastsiders. Redmond Town Center will host a big-screen watch party June 23, when the Sounders take on newly crowned European champions PSG. You can take the 2 Line to Downtown Redmond Station (or hop on the ST Express 545!).

Lower Queen Anne (transfer required!)

The Seattle Center is getting in on the fun, hosting fans during the tournament. On the big screen at the Armory Food & Event Hall, you can watch most of the group round matches for free, with the hall’s various dining options available to you. A quick ride on the Seattle Monorail from Westlake Center (after tapping on with your ORCA card) can get you there in a jiffy. Or you can ride one of the many King County Metro bus lines that cross the area.

Whether you're in the heart of downtown, soaking in the game with friends at Occidental, or catching the action on the Eastside, this Club World Cup isn’t just a moment for the Sounders — it’s a celebration for our region. Get out there and explore!
