Born in 1974, Seattle Sounders FC originated in the Pacific Northwest as a professional soccer team in the North American Soccer League (NASL). In the following decades, the Sounders participated in a variety of soccer leagues such as the APSL, A-League, and USL as the sport continued to evolve in the United States.
In 2009, the Sounders joined Major League Soccer, in which they quickly became a dominant force, securing multiple playoff appearances and winning the MLS Cup in 2016 and 2019, as well as winning the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League and Leagues Cup 2025, solidifying their reputation as one of MLS’s premier clubs.
