Link light rail will be suspended between Capitol Hill Station and University of Washington Station until 2 p.m. on Nov. 8

Buses will replace trains between Westlake and U District to accommodate essential system maintenance

Publish Date
Sound Transit will suspend 1 Line service from start of service until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 between Westlake and U District stations. This closure is necessary to accommodate essential system maintenance at Capitol Hill and University of Washington Stations.

During the disruption, crews will replace switches that support the Emergency Fan/Life Network (EFN) and Emergency Ventilation System (EVS). These are the final two stations in a systemwide replacement program to upgrade switches across the network.

During the disruption, trains will operate every 10 minutes between Lynnwood City Center and U District, and between Angle Lake and Westlake Station.

1 Line shuttle buses will operate between Westlake, Capitol Hill, University of Washington, and U District every 10-15 minutes.

Due to the nature of the work, trains will continue to operate through the construction area without passengers. Passengers traveling southbound through Downtown Seattle will need to exit trains at U District Station and board shuttle buses for service between U District and Westlake. Southbound passengers can then re-board Link at Westlake Station to continue their trip.

Northbound passengers will likewise board shuttle buses at Westlake Station and can reconnect to Link at U District for the remainder of their journey.

Passengers should plan for at least 30 minutes of additional travel time.

Staff ambassadors will be available to assist passengers at some stations.

A language line is available to provide translation assistance for passengers with limited proficiency in English at 800-823-9230.

Sound Transit remains committed to working closely with its partners to continue serving the public. Efforts will continue to prioritize serving riders who depend on Sound Transit’s services, including seniors, people with disabilities, Title VI-protected populations (race, color, national origin), passengers with low-incomes, and those with limited proficiency in English.

Riders can sign up to receive automatic email service alerts for Link light rail, ST Express bus routes, the T Line, and the Sounder N Line and S Line. Rider Alerts provide information about schedule changes and help riders plan trips around inclement weather.
