Sound Transit will hold a public hearing on Thursday, May 24 on the implementation of fares for all Sound Transit bus routes in downtown Seattle. The fares are proposed following the elimination of the downtown Seattle Ride Free Area by King County Metro and the City of Seattle.

SOUND TRANSIT
Public Hearing
Thursday, May 24, 2012
12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Union Station
Ruth Fisher Boardroom
401 S. Jackson Street
Seattle, WA 98104

The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comment on Sound Transit's proposal to require fare payment for trips on ST Express buses within downtown Seattle. The bus Ride Free Area (RFA) is scheduled to be eliminated by King County Metro on September 29, 2012, pursuant to the expiration of their agreement with the City of Seattle. Per current policy, ST Express bus service observes King County Metro's RFA. With the elimination of the RFA, Sound Transit needs to adjust policies and practices regarding fare payment for its bus service in downtown Seattle.
