Sound Transit to host open house on Kent Station parking and access improvements

Public can view concept for new parking garage

Sound Transit has completed its conceptual design for the proposed parking and access improvements at the Kent Sounder station. The project includes construction of a new parking garage at East James Street and Railroad Avenue North as well as improvements to pedestrian, bicycle and bus connections.

An open house will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, October 14 at Green River College, Kent Campus - Room 283, 417 Ramsey Way. Attendees will learn more about the project, including conceptual design, added bus layover space and proposed environmental mitigations. 

People unable to attend the open house can learn more about the project by visiting Soundtransit.org/kent-access-improvements (click on the “Documents” link).

Under state law, Sound Transit analyzed potential environmental impacts and benefits of the project and issued a Determination of Nonsignificance. Sound Transit is accepting public comments on this analysis from October 7 – 21.

The Sound Transit 2 ballot measure, voter-approved in 2008 provided funding for improving commuter access to Sounder train stations.
