Sound Transit will be altering service to accommodate necessary work impacting Link light rail. These limited planned service reductions allow the agency to deliver a more reliable transit experience. Buses will replace trains during limited periods.

Surge Arrestor Replacement (Sept. 1-3, 10)

Buses replace 2 Line trains from 11 p.m. until end of service between South Bellevue and Overlake Village for surge arrestor replacement. 2 Line trains will operate between Downtown Redmond and Overlake Village and between South Bellevue and Lynnwood City Center. Shuttle buses will operate between Overlake Village and South Bellevue, running every 10-15 minutes.

Monthly Maintenance (Sept. 15-17)

Buses replace 1 Line and 2 Line trains during late night hours between SODO, Judkins Park, and Capitol Hill stations for planned monthly maintenance. 1 Line trains will operate between Lynnwood and Capitol Hill and between SODO and Federal Way. 2 Line trains will operate between Judkins Park and Downtown Redmond.

Mercer Island Late Night Single Tracking (Sept. 21-25, 28-30)

2 Line trains will share one track during late night hours between Mercer Island and South Bellevue for fence installation along the alignment. There is no impact to 1 Line or 2 Line schedules, but passengers will board trains in both directions from the same platform at Mercer Island Station.

Rail Milling (Sept. 24-28)

2 Line trains will share one track during late night hours between South Bellevue and Downtown Redmond for rail milling. Rail milling is the mechanical process of shaving down tracks to create a properly profiled rail that is free of defects. The benefits are longer-lasting tracks and a smoother ride for passengers. There are no scheduled service impacts from the rail milling.
