Construction and traffic impacts in late December

Publish Date

The contractor will move equipment and materials off of Division Avenue and onto Martin Luther King Jr. Way in between Division Avenue and S. 3rd Street this week. After this equipment moves, Division Avenue will open to two-way traffic. Crews will complete the jack-and-bore operations on MLK Jr. Way near Tacoma General Hospital this week and then remove the shoring and fill in the pits. Rail welding on MLK Jr. Way is expected to be completed by Dec. 23, and then the S. 16th St. intersection will open. On Stadium Way, crews will continue to install track and foundations for Link power poles.

Looking ahead, the contractor plans to do traffic signal work in the N. Tacoma Ave. and N. 1st St. intersection in early January. Track installation is expected to start in this intersection and on Martin Luther King Jr. Way near S. 18th St. in January. In addition, crews will start utility work on MLK Jr. Way from Division Ave. to S. 3rd St. in early January.

The contractor will not be working on Dec. 24, 25, 31 or Jan. 1. Happy holidays!
