NE 43rd Street Closed between Brooklyn Avenue NE and the Alley on Friday, May 15 for Art Installation

Sound Transit will be installing its first temporary art installation at the U District Station construction site this Friday, May 15 as part of Sound Transit's art program (STart).  Sound Transit will be closing sections of Brooklyn Avenue NE and Northeast 43rd Street at the southern end of the light rail station construction site between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. for this work. Please refer to the project map for the closure locations.

Pedestrian Access  
The sidewalks on Brooklyn Avenue NE and along the southern side of Northeast 43rd Street will remain open during this work.

Motorist Access  
Brooklyn Avenue NE will remain open for local traffic to just south of Northeast 43rd Street.

Detour options:

  • Northeast 42nd Street to University Way NE; or Northeast 42nd Street to 11th Avenue NE

This work will not impact Brooklyn Avenue NE access to U Manor garage or the UDPA parking lot.

The block of Northeast 43rd Street just west of University Way NE, the "Ave," will remain open for local business deliveries.

  • Equipment including a manlift and ladders.
