Site work starting at 6 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20
On Thursday, Aug. 20, crews working for Sound Transit will begin work at 6 a.m. Crews plan to use a crane to remove a large bulldozer from the excavation site. Crews must start early in the morning to allow ample time for other construction activities scheduled throughout the day.
The City of Seattle has approved a temporary noise variance to perform this work between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. No high impact noise activities are scheduled to take place before 8 a.m. or after 5 p.m. for this work.
Early morning concrete pour to close NE 43rd Street to close between Brooklyn Avenue NE and alley
On Tuesday, Aug. 25, crews working for Sound Transit will use a concrete pump truck on NE 43rd Street between Brooklyn Avenue NE and the alley to pour concrete at the bottom of the U District station site. Crews will arrive at 4 a.m., begin the pour at 5 a.m. and complete the pour by 10 p.m.
Crews must start early in the morning to allow ample time to complete the concrete pour before 10 p.m.
Pedestrian Access
The sidewalks on Brooklyn Avenue NE and along the southern side of Northeast 43rd Street will remain open during this work.
Motorist Access
Detour options:
- Northeast 42nd Street to University Way NE; or
- Northeast 42nd Street to 11th Avenue NE
Access to the U Manor garage or the UDPA parking lot from Brooklyn will remain open
