Southbound lane closure on 1st Ave NE between NE 92nd and NE 95th Streets

This Saturday, August 12th and next Saturday, August 19th, Sound Transit’s tunneling contractor will remove electrical equipment from the Maple Leaf Portal site. To complete this work safely, the southbound lane of 1st Ave NE between NE 92nd and NE 95th will be closed. Flaggers will assist vehicle traffic in both directions around the work area.
What to expect:
- Traffic Impacts: Southbound lane on 1st Ave NE between NE 92nd and NE 95th will be closed.
- Construction Activities: Decommissioning electrical equipment and trucking it off-site.
- Equipment: Construction trucks and support equipment will temporarily stationed in the area.
- Work Schedule: August 12th and 19th, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The Northgate Link Extension will provide fast, reliable light rail service to one of the region’s most congested traffic areas. Trains will connect the Northgate, Roosevelt and U District neighborhoods to downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport. The 4.3-mile extension is expected to open for service in 2021.
