U District: Early morning work on Saturday, December 20

Publish Date
Body

Construction crews building the U District Station will be installing the gold construction wall along Northeast 43rd Street beginning as early as 7 am on Saturday, Dec. 20. The wall is being installed on the temporary roadway bridge between Brooklyn Avenue Northeast and the alley.

Crews will be working early to minimize disruptions to pedestrians traveling through the area. The City of Seattle has approved a temporary noise variance to perform this work. Activities that result in high impact noise (such as jackhammering) will be performed between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm on Saturday.

Crews are working to re-open this section of Northeast 43rd Street to one-way eastbound traffic by early spring. Other work to be completed prior to re-opening the road includes sidewalk restoration, paving, striping, and signage.

What to expect:

  • Lighting to illuminate the work area
  • Crane raising the panels and setting them into place
  • Noise from installing the construction wall and running machinery, including crane, forklift, and manlift
