U District: Monitoring work to close section of alley between Brooklyn Ave NE and University Way NE on Monday, April 7

Construction crews building the U District Station will be installing underground settlement monitors in the alley between Brooklyn Avenue NE and University Way NE on Monday, April 7. The section of the alley between NE 43rd Street and NE 45th Street will be closed to motorists between 8 am and 5 pm. The monitors are being installed next to the light rail station construction site. The monitors will assess ground movements and notify contractors if movement exceeds the allowable limits during tunneling and excavation activities.

Detour
Motorists heading north using the alley will be able to turn right onto NE 43rd Street. Drivers can then head north using University Way NE or 15th Avenue NE.

Pedestrian Access 
Pedestrian access will be provided through the alley during this work.

U District Station
The U District Station is under construction on Brooklyn Avenue NE between NE 45th and NE 43rd streets. The station is part of the future 4.3-mile Northgate Link Extension connecting Northgate, Roosevelt, and U District neighborhoods to downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport.
