Updated: Utility work to close section of Brooklyn Avenue NE beginning on Wednesday, April 2

Update: The intersection will be closed on Saturday, April 5 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Construction crews building the U District Station are relocating a water line on Brooklyn Avenue NE between NE 42nd Street and NE 45th Street. The water line is being relocated prior to construction of the light rail tunnels and station. This work will be occurring in the intersection of Brooklyn Avenue NE and NE 43rd Street between Wednesday, April 2 and Tuesday, April 8 between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm. The intersection will be open on Sunday, April 6 with work resuming Monday morning

Motorist Access   
During work hours, Brooklyn Avenue NE between NE 42nd Street and NE 43rd Street will be closed to vehicular traffic. Brooklyn Avenue NE just south of the Varsity Arms condos will remain open for local access only. This section of Brooklyn Avenue NE is expected to re-open to vehicular traffic on Tuesday, April 8.

Detour
Drivers heading northbound on Brooklyn Avenue NE from south of NE 42nd Street: turn right on NE 42nd Street then turn left on University Way NE.

Pedestrian Access   
Pedestrian access will be provided on Brooklyn Avenue NE and NE 43rd Street during this work.

Parking
No parking will be available on Brooklyn Avenue NE just south of the intersection of NE 43rd Street during this work.

U District Station
The U District Station is under construction on Brooklyn Avenue NE between NE 45th and NE 43rd streets. The station is part of the future 4.3-mile Northgate Link Extension connecting Northgate, Roosevelt, and U District neighborhoods to downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport.
