Utility work to close section of alley between 12th Ave NE and Brooklyn Ave NE
No east-west pedestrian access on Friday, June 13
Construction crews building the U District Station are installing underground utilities in the alley between 12th Avenue NE and Brooklyn Avenue NE. The underground power lines will provide power for construction activities, as well as for the tunnels and future light rail station. This work is expected to be complete within approximately three weeks.
Motorist and Pedestrian Access
On Friday, June 13, there will be no east-west pedestrian access between 12th Avenue NE and Brooklyn Avenue NE between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. while Seattle City Light installs electrical cables.
The northern section of the alley between 12th Avenue NE and Brooklyn Avenue NE will be closed to motorists and pedestrians between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday-Friday during this work.
Parking Impacts
This work will temporarily impact access to a few parking spaces at the northern end of the alley (refer to map on the next page). Parking access for these spaces will be unavailable between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, starting as early as Monday, June 16 for up to three weeks.
Property owners and residents needing temporary alternate parking accommodations are requested to contact Paige Cureton, Sound Transit Community Outreach Specialist, at (206) 903-7032. Parking accommodations will only be provided for residents with approved permitted spots in this area. Local street parking is also available on 11th Avenue NE and Brooklyn Avenue NE on a first-come, first served basis in City approved areas.
