Weekend Street Closures: First Avenue NE and NE 100th Street, 103rd Street

Friday, March 18, crews will finish up paving work in the intersection of First Ave NE and NE 100th Street. The intersection will be closed to through traffic from 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 18 to 8 a.m. Saturday March 19.

No high impact noise activities (such as jackhammering or saw-cutting) will take place after 10 p.m. Access to homes and businesses, Northgate Mall and the Northgate Transit Center will be maintained.

Vehicle detour:

  • Northbound traffic: Turn east on NE 92nd Street to Fifth Avenue NE. Turn north on Fifth Avenue NE to NE 103rd Street. Turn west on NE 103rd Street to First Avenue NE.
  • Southbound traffic: Turn east on NE 103rd Street. Turn south on Fifth Avenue NE. Turn west on NE 92nd Street to First Avenue NE.

Saturday, March 19, Sound Transit's utility relocation contractor will pave the intersection of First Avenue NE and NE 103rd Street. The intersection will be closed to through traffic from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Vehicle detour:

  • Northbound traffic: Turn east on NE 92nd Street to Fifth Avenue NE. Turn north on Fifth Avenue NE to NE 100th Street. Turn west on NE 100th Street to First Avenue NE.
  • Southbound traffic: Turn east on NE 100th Street. Turn south on Fifth Avenue NE. Turn west on NE 92nd Street to First Avenue NE.

University Link Light Rail Opening Celebration

Light rail service is coming to Northgate in 2021, but now it's time to celebrate the opening of University Link light rail! Please join us at the new University of Washington and Capitol Hill stations for a day of fun including light rail rides, activities and entertainment for all ages.

At the Northgate Transit Center, King County Metro will offer a free shuttle departing every 15 minutes to University of Washington Station. Shuttles leave from the south end of the transit center on NE 100th Street; the last returning shuttle to Northgate leaves University of Washington Station at 6:10 p.m.
