Community Oversight Panel
The Community Oversight Panel independently monitors Sound Transit to make sure it meets its commitment to voters.

How to apply

The Sound Transit Board of Directors is seeking interested volunteers to join the Community Oversight Panel (COP). There are currently positions open representing the Snohomish County, Pierce County, North King County, and South King County subareas.

Sound Transit actively seeks persons from diverse backgrounds and professional areas of expertise to support agency oversight, planning and operations. Persons of color and women are encouraged to apply. 

Candidates should be available to attend meetings once each month during evening from 5:30 – 8:15 p.m. and must have experience, skills, or insight in one or more areas related to the panel's responsibilities:

  • Community engagement activities
  • Project planning and alignment decisions
  • Budget and financial plan
  • Project schedule and budget adherence
  • Agency performance audits
  • Social justice and equity
  • Passenger experience

Current panel openings

There are currently eight positions available on the panel.

Two positions from Snohomish County, two positions from North King County, two from South King County, one from Pierce County, and one from the East King County subarea(s) on the panel.

Copies of all applications and resumes, or experience summaries are provided to the Board for review. The Executive Committee reviews and recommends candidates to the entire Board of Directors for confirmation.
