About this project

Sound Transit worked with developer Pacific Housing Northwest, LLC to construct Colina, a transit-oriented community next to the Beacon Hill station. Completed in 2021, the Colina project activated the vacant lots adjacent to the station and knit them together with the surrounding community.

In 2017, Sound Transit received an unsolicited proposal for a 2,200 square foot parcel and agreed to sell it at market value. The parcel was combined with the developer's adjacent 6,431 square foot property to construct a mixed-use transit-oriented development. The overall project delivered 139 homes, 20 percent of which are affordable through the Multi-Family Tax Exemption Program. In addition to the residential component, 5,200 square feet of retail space was created on the ground floor, which will host family-owned restaurants and other businesses. The project includes a new public plaza with additional ground level retail facing onto the space.

The project achieved the LEED Gold standard for environmental sustainability.
