Federal Way Link Extension Final Environmental Impact Statement

Final Environmental Impact Statement

On Nov. 18, 2016, Sound Transit and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) published the Federal Way Link Extension (FWLE) Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), in accordance with the Washington State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

The Final EIS evaluates route and station alternatives, including the preferred alternative identified by the Sound Transit Board in July 2015. It describes potential impacts on the natural and built environment, possible mitigation measures, and responds to public comments received during the Draft EIS comment period, which ended on May 26, 2015.

FTA will accept comments on the Final EIS for 30 days. All comments on the Final EIS are due by close of business on Dec. 19, 2016. All comments should include an addressee and return address. Please mail comments to the following address:

Attention: Federal Transit Administration, Region 10
Attn: Federal Way Link Extension Final EIS Comments
915 2nd Ave, Suite 3142
Seattle, WA 98174-1002

Or email them to: fta.tro10mail@dot.gov

After considering the analysis in the Final EIS, including public and agency comments and responses on the Draft EIS, the Sound Transit Board will select the project to build. The Board is expected to select the project to be built as early as January 2017.
