The World Cup is coming to your commute

Publish Date

Seattle is one of the host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and Sound Transit is marking the moment in a way riders can actually hold onto.

The day before each match, Sound Transit will begin loading a limited amount of commemorative ORCA cards into ticket vending machines (TVMs) at select stations across the region.

Three stations will have 400 cards at a designated TVM. You can find the TVM by looking for the machine with this design:

If you arrive and don’t see a marked TVM, then that means somebody beat you this time, but remember, there will be more surprise drops coming!

How to score a commemorative card

Sound Transit will be dropping locations over the coming weeks on our social media channels. But remember, each location will only have 400 cards, so make sure you turn notifications on.

If you want an even faster way to learn the next drop site, sign up for the LifeSTyle newsletter. Subscribers will get advance notice of each location drop before it goes public on social media.

Note: ORCA cards purchased from TVMs have a $5 minimum fare purchase.

Other ways to get the card

Sound Transit will also be out and about in the community during the three-week tournament.

Ambassadors at our Juneteenth celebrations will have cards on hand, as well as team members out and about at other regional celebrations.

Cards are also available at the Metro office on 2nd and Jackson for purchase while supplies last.

About the card

Sound Transit worked in partnership with King County Metro and 4Culture to prepare this card for the 2026 World Cup. Green whale-tail patterns rooted in the SEA26 palette and Bremner's formline tradition move across the card alongside multi-colored soccer balls. The card was designed by Alison Bremner.

Alison Bremner (Tlingit) is a multidisciplinary artist born and raised in Southeast Alaska and now based in King County. Working across painting, woodcarving, and digital media, her practice is grounded in Northwest Coast formline design and engages themes of continuity, identity, and humor, bridging traditional Tlingit visual language with the present.
