In 2016, Sound Transit and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), in coordination with the City of Lakewood, completed environmental review for the Sounder Maintenance Base project. Following passage of ST3 in 2016, Sound Transit decided to refine the project to accommodate maintenance of a larger fleet of Sounder rail cars. Sound Transit released a State Environmental Protection Act (SEPA) Addendum for the expanded project in May of 2018.
