Early morning deliveries through end of September

Publish Date
Body

Construction crews building the U District Station will be delivering and unloading materials at the project construction site during the early morning hours through the end of September.

The materials are long pipes called struts that will be installed at the top of the light rail station box to hold the shoring walls during excavation. Due to the size of the materials, the City of Seattle requires the transport of the equipment during off-peak travel hours to minimize disruptions to the traveling public.   Sound Transit crews have received a temporary noise variance from the City of Seattle to perform this work. Trucks must use broadband alarms. Sound attenuation will be used to minimize noise impacts to the extent possible.

What to expect:

  • Flatbed truck arriving onsite around 5 a.m.
  • Noise from continuously running engines while crews unload the materials
  • Lighting to illuminate the work area
