Testing

The final step before a project opens for service is called pre-revenue operations. This phase includes rigorous testing and safety certifications for all systems, vehicles, and operators before the project opens to the public. 

We ensure that:  

  • All communications, safety, emergency, and other systems work together as planned.  

  • Local emergency responders practice simulations within new facilities and vehicles. 

  • Elevators, escalators, wayfinding, and other accessibility features are functional. 

  • Link trains run “simulated service” without passengers to help pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers learn how to travel safely with trains, and to familiarize operators with the new route and stations.  

Once testing and certification are complete, it’s time for opening day! The extensive capital project timeline pays off with a transformational new transit option that will benefit our region for decades to come.
