“Be a LOOKer”: Practice crossing safety in your community!

It's "See Tracks? Think Train Week!" led by Operation Lifesaver and Sound Transit is proud to join the rail safety community to raise awareness about train and transit safety. We always encourage riders to practice safe crossing behaviors on and around tracks, street crossings, and transit platforms, but we’re using this week – dedicated to rail safety – to share a few reminders.

When traveling near tracks and trains: 

  • Avoid looking at screens or using headphones. 

  • Obey all signals, gates, and warning signs.  

  • Look and listen for trains before crossing.  

If these sound like actions you can take, then you’re well on your way to being a real “LOOKer!” Last step, sign our Crossing Safety Pledge, and see these safe crossing habits in action by watching our “LOOK” campaign video.

Sound Transit Safety Fair  

On Saturday, Sept. 26, join us for the second annual Sound Transit Safety Fair. It’s a free, family-friendly event with fun activities including crossing safety trivia, temporary tattoos, and an interactive safety demonstration with a chance to win prizes! Enjoy delicious food from local vendors and special event merchandise, while embracing what it means to “Be a LOOKer.” 

The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic. It's open to everyone! 

RSVP to the Sound Transit Safety Fair 

Swag Drop  

On Sept. 23, Sound Transit staff ambassadors will hand out exciting swag items at 1 Line, 2 Line, T Line, and S Line stations from 6:30 - 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. Look out for free safety merch and key information on transit safety to help keep our communities safe.
