Our top priority: Keeping the region moving safely and securely

Sound Transit is ready for the world to join us in the Puget Sound. With the FIFA World Cup 2026 coming in June, our region is preparing to host its biggest sporting event yet! With the influx of people coming to our home, safety is top of mind.

Below are a few tips – visit our Safety and Security page for more information about how Sound Transit works to keep you safe.

Know where to stand: Stay behind the yellow line and wait before you board

We anticipate thousands of visitors to the region, so we’ll ensure platforms are not overcrowded by metering access at our busiest stations. Stand behind the yellow line and wait for passengers to exit the train before boarding. When getting on the train, make space for more passengers—move away from the doors and toward the center or end of each train car.

Mind the signage: Take crosswalks, not shortcuts

Some Link light rail and Sounder stations have track crossings. Trains will always have the right of way, so pay attention! Use crosswalks, obey traffic signals, and look both ways—trains can come anytime from either direction. Stay alert!

Remember, we’re in this together: See something? Anything! Text Security!

Our riders are our most valuable safety partners. If you notice anything off, please call or text Security at +1 (206) 398-5268. From broken glass to disruptive passengers, contacting Security is the easiest way to help you have a safer ride.

If you are experiencing an emergency, call 911 immediately.

It’s up to all of us: Help us prevent human trafficking

If you see someone who seems controlled or monitored by another person, call the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888 or text 233733. You can reach the hotline 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in more than 200 languages. All calls are confidential and answered live by highly trained Anti-Trafficking Hotline Advocates.

Above all, awareness is protection. Look both ways when you cross tracks. Pay attention to activities and people around you. And remember to connect with Sound Transit Security whenever you see something off.
