Celebrate the Seahawks’ big win: How to ride transit to the victory parade

Publish Date

Seattle is getting ready to celebrate in a big way.

Tens of thousands of fans are expected to head downtown for the Seahawks Super Bowl Victory Parade and celebration, and public transit will play a major role in getting people there and home again. You can find information about additional service Sound Transit will be offering for the parade here.

Whether you’re planning to join the festivities or navigating your usual commute, a little advance planning can help make the day smoother for everyone.

Here’s what to know before you ride:

Plan ahead

Transit demand will be high throughout the day, especially on Link light rail and Sounder trains before and after the celebration. If you have flexibility, consider working from home or adjusting your travel time.

Expect heavy crowds on trains and at stations

1 Line trains and downtown stations will be much busier than usual, with large crowds moving through stations before and after parade events.

Build plenty of extra time into your trip, be prepared to wait for the next train if they arrive full, and follow directions from Sound Transit staff on platforms and in stations.

Parade participants are strongly encouraged to use earlier S and N Line service trains when traveling into the city, as event trains are expected to experience higher-than-normal crowding

Parking will fill up early — plan alternatives

If you typically park and ride, don’t assume you’ll find a spot. Link and Sounder park-and-rides are expected to fill earlier than usual.

If parking at your closest station isn’t available, you still have options, like trying another park-and-ride. Many facilities have more space available and connect to Link and Sounder Stations, or direct to downtown Seattle with frequent bus routes. From the Eastside or South King County, find parking options here. Pro tips:

  • Connect to Seattle from Eastgate Park & Ride via ST Express 554 or 556, or from South Bellevue Station Park & Ride via ST Express 550.

  • Kent Des Moines Park & Ride and S. 320th Park and Ride are a short walk away from Kent Des Moines Station and Federal Way Downtown Station respectively.

  • From Snohomish County: Find parking options here. Pro-tip: Park at Ash Way P&R and access Link at Lynnwood City Center Station via ST Express 512 or 513.

  • From Pierce County: Find parking options here.  Pro-tip: Park at SR-512 P&R and ride ST Express 594 direct to Seattle, or to connect to Sounder at Tacoma Dome Station.

You can also:

  • Get dropped off. All stations have designated pick-up and drop-off areas for ridehail services, taxis, and paratransit.

  • Connect by bus. Local and express bus routes can connect you to Link or Sounder without needing to park.

  • Use bikes, scooters, or on-demand shuttles. Secure bike rooms and lockers are available at every station, and some communities offer on-demand transit that connects to major hubs. Bicycles are discouraged onboard crowded trains.

Pack your patience

Large events bring excitement — and delays. Crowded trains, busy platforms, and longer travel times are all possible. Give yourself extra time, be kind to fellow riders and transit staff, and expect a festive, busy atmosphere.

Before heading out, use Sound Transit’s online trip planner or Sound RideGuide to plan your trip and check service alerts for the latest updates.

Thank you for riding Sound Transit and for packing your patience as the region comes together to celebrate. Go Hawks!
