Summer is in full swing, and it seems everyone is out riding bikes and scooters these days. But what if you don’t own a bike, or just don’t want to carry it around all day?
That’s where shared bikes and scooters (a.k.a. “shared micromobility”) come in handy! You’ve probably seen the colorful bikes and scooters from vendors like Lime and Bird all over town, but did you know you can earn some awesome rewards when you combine them with public transit?
Sound Transit, King County, the Seattle Department of Transportation, Lime, Bird, and Velocia have collaborated to offer the deal of the summer.
Take a Lime or Bird ride to a Sound Transit station, park properly in a designated parking area (not obstructing pedestrians!), and automatically earn Transit GO Rewards points that you can redeem for tickets and even Lime/Bird credit for your next ride!
Here’s how to get started
- Download the Lime or Bird mobile app, plus the Transit GO Ticket app. Create new accounts if necessary.
- Within the Transit GO app, find the “Rewards” tab and look for the shortcut to connect your Lime/Bird accounts, or do this in Settings.
- Once you finish connecting your accounts, just start taking Lime or Bird rides! Whenever you finish a trip within a designated parking area (marked as pins within the apps and usually signed near station entrances), you will earn 300 Rewards points. You can check this in the Rewards tab within the Transit GO app.
- Within 24 hours, if you spend those 300 points purchasing and activating a bus or light rail ticket, you will automatically earn another 700 points! That’s enough to redeem for a $7 Lime or Bird promo code, which you can copy and paste into the Lime/Bird app before your next ride.
- You can earn another 150 points just for taking a survey about your experience after your first ride.

Sound Transit's Passenger Access Services team designed this promotion with King County, SDOT, Lime, Bird, and Velocia to encourage the use of safe, sustainable connections to our services.
We expect this incentive to also lead to more riders parking correctly in our designated micromobility parking areas, thus preventing obstructions on the sidewalk or other safety hazards. It’s a win-win for everyone!
Now in our third year running the promotion, we’re seeing more interest than ever — more than 1,500 riders have already signed up! Spread the word and make trips to transit way quicker, more fun, and super rewarding.
