Weekend of September 29-30: Full closure of 112th Avenue Southeast between Bellevue Way Southeast and Southeast 8th Street

In order to pave and stripe the soon-to-open 112th Ave SE temporary bypass road, and to safely remove trees adjacent to 112th Avenue Southeast, Sound Transit's contractor is planning a weekend closure of 112th Avenue Southeast between Bellevue Way Southeast and Southeast 8th.

Anticipated closure dates:

  • Saturday, September 29th from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, September 30th.

Local access to Bellefield Residential Park will be maintained. Flaggers and uniformed police officers will actively assist with traffic control and driveway access. Please follow the direction of flaggers and signage to safely access your destination. When 112th Ave SE reopens on Sunday evening, traffic will be diverted to a newly constructed bypass road located slightly west of the existing roadway. Weekday Construction traffic impacts: Monday, October 1 – Friday, October 5

112th Ave SE

112th Ave SE bypass road scheduled to open September 30th

Crews are preparing for the next phase of light rail construction on 112th Ave SE. Beginning Sunday, September 30th, Sound Transit’s contractor will shift traffic to a temporary bypass road located to the west of the existing roadway. This shift is necessary in order for the contractor to begin construction of the road over rail undercrossing. Work to construct the first section of the undercrossing is expected to last approximately fourteen months.

24 hours. During construction of the undercrossing, 112th Ave SE will be reduced to one lane in each direction between SE 15th and SE 8th. People walking will use a sidewalk/pedestrian path on the west side of 112th Ave SE. The map below, details what people walking, driving and riding bikes can expect. Please follow the direction of flaggers and signage to safely access your destination.

Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: As needed, daily closures of one southbound lane of 112th Avenue SE, between Main Street and SE 8th Street.

I-90

Monday-Thursday (Friday morning) night closures, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.: In order to safely construct East Link’s aerial guideway in south Bellevue, Sound Transit’s contractor plans to close the southbound I-405 to westbound I-90 HOV ramp and the I-90 westbound HOV lane between I-405 and the East Chanel Bridge.

Monday-Tuesday (Wednesday morning) night closures, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.: of the I-90 to northbound I-405 HOV ramp

Bellevue Way SE

In order to work in the eastside curb lane while maintaining two lanes of traffic in the peak direction (northbound 6-10 a.m. and southbound 2-6 p.m.) crews will use the ‘southbound center lane’ as a reversible traffic lane. At times, northbound vehicles will travel in what is normally a southbound lane.

Monday-Friday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.: Work is set to begin on the light rail trench and guideway adjacent to Bellevue Way SE, between the South Bellevue Station site and the Wye at 112th Avenue SE. Throughout the project, two lanes will be maintained in the peak direction: northbound in the morning and southbound in the afternoon. Sound Transit’s contractor will use cones and lane delineators to guide traffic along Bellevue Way SE. Please follow the direction of flaggers and signage to safely access your destination. Night work near I-90 and 7 a.m. start times at South Bellevue Station site continues

Work to construct the long span light rail track over I-90 continues. Typical work hours are Monday-Friday (Saturday morning) 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. More information about long span construction can be found here.
