Night closure at 1st Ave NE Northgate Way intersection and NB I-5 Northgate Way on-ramp for guideway construction

As early as Thursday, March 4, Sound Transit will be closing 1st Avenue Northeast and Northgate Way intersection and the Interstate 5 northbound on-ramp at Northgate Way. The nighttime closure will be utilized to continue deck work for the future light rail guideway. 

What

  • Suggested detour route is located on 1st Avenue Northeast (see map).
  • Work consists of heavy equipment and cranes.
  • Full closures will occur during work hours and re-open during non-work hours.

When

  • Thursday night, March 4 to Friday morning, March 5.
  • Construction work hours are from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • On-ramp will remain open outside of work hours.

Where

  • 1st Avenue and Northgate Way intersection.
  • Northgate Way on-ramp to northbound I-5.
  • Access will be maintained for local residents.
