Upcoming I-90 trail closures at Shorewood Drive

Beginning as early as Tuesday May 28, crews working for Sound Transit will re-profile the I-90 trail at Shorewood Drive. Crews will remove portions of the existing trail, lay crushed rock to regrade the trail and repave with a paving machine. Work is weather dependent and is anticipated to last until June 12.

This work will detour trail users to N. Mercer Way: eastbound trail users will detour at Shorewood Drive, and westbound trail users will detour at Fortuna Dr. Parking along N. Mercer Way will be restricted to create a pedestrian pathway while cyclists are encouraged to use the road.

  • Crews will re-profile the I-90 trail near Shorewood Drive beginning Tuesday May 28. Work will occur daily, Monday – Friday, from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. Work is expected to last until June 12.
  • To safely complete this work, trail users will be detoured to N. Mercer Way: 
    • Westbound trail users will detour to N. Mercer Way at Fortuna Dr.
    • Eastbound trail users will detour to N. Mercer Way at Shorewood Dr.
  • Cyclists, pedestrians and drivers should follow the direction of flaggers and signage to safely access your destination.
  • Plan ahead, leave early and allow extra time to reach your destination.
  • Due to inclement weather or unforeseen issues, dates and times are subject to change.

Utility installation at 77th Ave SE and N Mercer Way

Beginning as early as May 28, crews working for Sound Transit will install utility cabinets for the Mercer Island Station. Work will take place at the intersection of 77th Ave SE and N. Mercer Way. 

Crews will use a boom truck to lift the cabinet into place and traffic will be temporarily reduced to one lane and will alternate directions at the intersection of 77th Ave. SE and N. Mercer Way from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
