Weekend/night construction work at Lynnwood Transit Center

Publish Date

Starting Friday, July 26, crews with Sound Transit's contractor will begin night and weekend work to install new water and sewer utilities under 46th Ave W near the Lynnwood Transit Center. This work is necessary to prepare for the Lynnwood City Center Station and requires a full closure 46th Ave. Night/weekend work is necessary to minimize impacts to commuters, businesses and residents during the workweek.

Work hours: Friday 8 p.m. to Sunday 4:30 a.m.

Duration: This work will be ongoing on weekends for approximately 12 weeks.

Equipment: Backhoes, loaders, heavy trucks, paving equipment, light plants, generators and aerial lifts.

Noise: There will be noise from heavy equipment required to break and remove paving surface, installing underground utilities and repaving street.

Traffic impacts: The work will require the full closure 46th Ave W between the entrance to the bus loop and 200 St SW.

  • Traffic entering the transit center, including bus traffic, will be diverted to 48th Ave W, leading to heavier than normal weekend traffic on 48th Ave.
  • The I-5 direct access ramp will remain open but drivers should expect longer than normal times to access the transit center due to increased traffic.
