When the 2 Line is fully open in 2026, 1 Line and 2 Line trains will each run every 8-10 minutes during the day, and every 12-15 minutes in the evening and early morning. This will double the current Link service between Snohomish County and downtown Seattle, with service along this section every 4-5 minutes. In addition, both 1 Line and 2 Line trains will stop at the new Pinehurst Station.
If you currently ride ST Express in North King County or Snohomish County, your trip could look different as soon as fall 2026. Changes could include:
- Improved nighttime bus service
- Buses that integrate with the growing Link light rail network.
- Updating bus route schedules.
- More frequent and reliable service throughout the day – Link trains will arrive about every 8-10 minutes between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.
- More seats and overall capacity.
- More connections to more places throughout the region.

Rail changes
Currently, 1 Line trains run to Lynnwood City Center Station every 8-10 minutes during the day and every 12-15 minutes late at night and early morning.
When the 2 Line opens the Crosslake Connection in early 2026, 2 Line trains will travel between Lynnwood City Center and Downtown Redmond stations. The two Link lines will increase daytime train service between Lynnwood City Center and downtown Seattle to every 4-5 minutes.
From the International District/Chinatown Station, 1 Line trains will continue south to SeaTac/Airport and Federal Way. 2 Line trains will head east from Seattle to Mercer Island, Bellevue, and Redmond via the Crosslake Connection. 2 Line riders can transfer to a 1 Line train at any station from Lynnwood City Center to International District/Chinatown.
Riders can anticipate a trip from Lynnwood to downtown Seattle will take 28 minutes and from Mountlake Terrace to Sea-Tac Airport will take approximately 56 minutes.
Additionally, the new Pinehurst Station is forecast to open in 2026, serving both the 1 Line and 2 Line. Pinehurst Station will be on the west side of 5th Ave NE and 130th St in Seattle. The station will serve a growing area between the existing Northgate and Shoreline South/148th stations.
Current service
Sound Transit currently provides ST Express service through seven routes to Everett, Seaway, Ash Way, Lynnwood, and Mountlake Terrace.
These ST Express routes, excluding 522, serve about 6,000 riders daily; just under half of the riders take routes 512 and 535. Route 512 provides frequent service all day, every day between Everett and Lynnwood City Center. Route 535 operates Monday through Saturday between Lynnwood and Bellevue. Routes 510, 513, 515, and 532 provide supplemental services during weekday peak hours.

Overnight service (Everett - Downtown Seattle)

Add new overnight route to the regional network
When Link is not running, a new ST Express route would provide service between Everett and Downtown Seattle, with stops in South Everett, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Shoreline, Northgate, and the University of Washington.
What does it mean for passengers?
Passengers would have access to the new overnight service when Link is not operating. Passengers who currently travel at night between destinations on Route 512 between Everett and Lynnwood and the 1 Line Lynnwood and Downtown Seattle would be able to get to their destinations using ST Express bus.
513

Enhance Route 513 and discontinue service to Eastmont Park & Ride
We would add northbound service to Route 513 in the AM peak and southbound service in the PM peak. Route 513 would also no longer stop at Eastmont Park & Ride.
What does it mean for passengers?
People travelling to Seaway Transit Center in the AM and Lynnwood in the PM would have an option to use the new Route 513 bi-directional service.
For current riders using the Eastmont Park & Ride, South Everett Freeway Station is an alternative. Community Transit Routes 903/904/905 and ST Route 512 serve South Everett and go to Lynnwood City Center Station.

522
The implementation of this proposal is subject to operational capacity at our partner agencies and may be partially implemented or deferred.
Reroute to Shoreline South Station and enhance service
Route 522 would be rerouted to Shoreline South Station. This change would match the future Stride S3 Line. Service frequency would be improved to about every 15 minutes all day between UW Bothell and Shoreline South, and about every 30 minutes all day from Woodinville.
What does it mean for passengers?
Passengers who board Route 522 north of NE 145th Street would transfer to the 1 or 2 Line at Shoreline South Station instead of Roosevelt Station. Passengers travelling south of NE 145th Street can board new King County Metro Routes 72 or 77 for service to Roosevelt Station or the University District.

Improve Route 535’s service on weekends
Responsive to community feedback and consistent with previous planning, Route 535 would offer more frequent Saturday service and operate on Sundays. Weekend service would operate every 30 minutes during the day and every 60 minutes during the evening.
What does it mean for passengers?
Riders would have more frequent service on weekends.

Eliminate Temporary Route 515
Route 515 is a temporary peak-only route between Lynnwood City Center Station and Downtown Seattle. The route was originally a temporary measure to supplement the 1 Line’s capacity until the full 2 Line opened. When Route 515 was approved by the Sound Transit Board of Directors in 2024, the Board authorized the CEO to discontinue Route 515 when the 2 Line connects to the 1 Line across Lake Washington.
With the scheduled 2026 opening of the 2 Line across Lake Washington, which will provide additional frequency and capacity between Lynnwood City Center and downtown Seattle, we propose discontinuing Route 515 effective Fall 2026. Instead, passengers can use frequent service on Link, with trains every 4-5 minutes during the day between Lynnwood and Seattle on the 1 and 2 Lines.
What does it mean for passengers?
Riders can take the 1 or 2 Line to continue to access the same destinations.
