Connecting with Link to World Cup

Publish Date

You know that the FIFA World Cup is less than two months away from landing in Seattle. You also know that Sound Transit is your reliable and accessible choice for getting to the matches and fun across the Puget Sound. Your only question now: how do I use Link light rail to access these good times?

Don’t worry, we’re here to help! There are many ways to access Link stations across our system.

Start your journey by planning ahead

Knowing the route you will take and the stations you will use will pay off big time. Use the ST Trip Planner to plan your trip, review schedules and learn more about the layouts and amenities at each station. For robust in-station navigation, download GoodMaps. This app is especially useful for riders with visual impairments and is now available for most Link stations.

Walk, bike, scoot, or drive to your closest Link station

Planning to bike? We’re expecting crowded trains on the six match days, which means no bikes or scooters on board. You can, however, park your bike at secure, convenient bike rooms and lockers at all stations for free on those days. Install the BikeLink mobile app to get started.

Free rides on shared bikes and scooters are also available in Seattle, Redmond, or Shoreline. This is an excellent option for short distances and for traveling to and around the stadium. Learn more and see participating locations in the Bike and Scoot to Transit program.

Driving a car? Arrive early, especially on the busiest days. Parking garages will fill up quickly. Starting June 1, fans and commuters alike can purchase reserved parking permits for selected park and rides on match days. For more information about Sound Transit park and rides, parking permits, and more, check out soundtransit.org/parking.

Choosing the right stadium-serving Link station

Finally, when riding Link light rail to Seattle Stadium, use preferred stations when you’re getting off and returning home on the train:

  • Coming from downtown Seattle, Shoreline, or further north? Use Pioneer Square Station.

  • Taking the 2 Line from Redmond or Bellevue? Use International District/Chinatown Station.

  • Coming from Beacon Hill, Tukwila, or further south? Use Stadium Station.

Entering and exiting at these stations will make your trip much smoother.

With this information, now you're ready for your trip to incredible soccer fun this summer!
