Sound Transit is considering making changes to ST Express bus, Sounder South and Tacoma Link service next year, and we want to know what you think!

There are a few opportunities to make your voice heard this week. And our survey is open through Aug. 22, and available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Russian and Somali.

You can attend our virtual open house (via Zoom or call in) at 6 p.m. on Aug. 11, or register in advance to comment at our online public hearing (via Web Ex or call in) at 11 a.m. on Aug. 12.

Ridership is rebounding as region continues to recover from the pandemic. Sound Transit is responding to the ridership increase with a focus on equity.

Here are some highlights of the 2022 Service Plan:

  • Increasing service where people need it most, specifically in South King and Pierce County, where ridership remained more resilient compared to other parts of the region.
  • Considering restoring Sounder South service.
  • Increasing service on select ST Express bus routes throughout the day (including middays, evenings and weekends).*

*While peak hours would still have higher frequency, additional service outside these times would allow for wider flexibility and serve passengers traveling for other reasons.

2022 will mark the opening of the Hilltop Tacoma Link Extension. This extension will provide new local connections from Tacoma Dome Station to major medical institutions in the Hilltop neighborhood.

At Sound Transit, we evaluate service annually and propose changes to improve performance, respond to ridership trends and use taxpayers’ dollars efficiently.

We create these proposals based on existing service information as well as community feedback about potential improvements. We always need your input to help us improve our service plans.
