The 18-member Sound Transit Board includes elected officials and the Secretary of the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Meeting accessibility and request for accommodations

Sound Transit is eager to provide a variety of accommodations and services for access and communications at our Board and Committee meetings. Union Station is ADA compliant. Please review the accessibility information below.

Location of Union Station

Union Station located at 401 S. Jackson Street, and is bordered by:

  • Jackson Street to the North,
  • Fourth Avenue to the West,
  • Fifth Avenue to the East,
  • S King Street to the South.

The main pedestrian entrance is located on Jackson Street. The entrance on 4th avenue is not accessible.

Disability Parking Access

Street parking is available around the station. A privately operated parking garage is located on 4th Avenue S just South of Union Station with accessible parking spaces and elevators to the surface.

Reception Desk

Sound Transit’s reception desk is located near the S. Jackson Street entrance and is open only during Sound Transit Board and Committee meetings until further notice.

Restrooms

Accessible restrooms are available in the main hall of Union Station. For assistance in locating the restrooms, please ask the reception desk to assist you.

Wheelchair Seating in the Ruth Fisher Board Room

Space will be made available in the board room at request upon arrival. If you wish to request seating in advance, please use our accommodation form linked here.

American Sign Language

American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation services are present at all regularly scheduled Board of Directors meetings. ASL interpretation can be made available at committee meetings by request, but please provide two to three weeks’ notice for regularly scheduled meetings.

Translation and Interpretation

Translation and interpretation services are available upon request. Please provide two to three weeks’ notice for regularly scheduled meetings.

Every effort will be made to accommodate requests for special meetings occurring out of the typical series.

Printed Materials in alternative form

Printed materials are available in alternative forms upon request. Please provide staff at least 2 weeks of advance notice so that the alternative forms may be produced and provided.

Service Animals

Service animals are permitted inside Union Station. They must remain under control of the owner at all times. Standard ADA guidelines regarding service animals are applicable.

Closed Captioning

Automated closed captions are available at all Sound Transit Board and committee meetings through the Webex webinar software.
