We offer two choices of medical plans, a dental plan, and a vision plan all at no cost for employee coverage, and long-term disability and life insurance. 

We offer comprehensive benefits for employees and eligible dependents, including a spouse or domestic partner.

We offer our employees several opportunities to plan ahead and save for the future, with retirement plans and one-on-one counseling.

401a – 10% of employee contribution with a 12% match by Sound Transit.
457b – up to IRS maximum (employee only contribution).

Sound Transit pays all administrative fees. Sound Transit does not participate in Social Security.

We have a flex work program which includes flexible schedules and telework options based on position and management approval.

Employees accrue 25 days of paid time off annually with increases at four, eight and 12 years. Employees at the director level and up accrue additional days.

Employees also receive 11 paid holidays, and two paid floating holidays. Employees can choose to take a paid holiday for events that have special significance to them such as religious observances (e.g., Yom Kippur, Ramadan, Good Friday), cultural celebrations (e.g., National Womxn’s Day, National Coming Out Day), or even their own birthday.

We offer 12 weeks of parental leave for new parents. We also have medical leave and caregiver leave.

We know our employees are passionate about giving back to community. The agency also grants employees 16 hours or two days of volunteer time per year to volunteer with nonprofit organizations and/or local schools.

All full-time employees will receive an ORCA card at no cost. ORCA (One Regional Card for All) can be used on buses, trains, and water taxis in the Puget Sound region, along with the Monorail and Seattle Streetcar. ORCA is accepted on all services provided by Community Transit, Everett Transit, King County Metro, Kitsap Transit, Pierce Transit and Sound Transit.

Sound Transit will pay up to $5,000 annually for approved tuition expenses.
