Between Feb. 15th and April 2nd, Sound Transit's contractor will complete the final section of a wall between the future light rail guideway and park. The access changes have been coordinated with City of Bellevue Parks Department staff. Following City of Bellevue construction of a reimagined Surrey Downs Park, a new entrance and parking area will be available off Southeast 4th St., from within the Surrey Downs neighborhood.

Clearing and vegetation removal along 112th Ave SE

Beginning as early as the week of Feb. 12, Sound Transit's contractors will begin clearing trees and understory vegetation in the Sound Transit work zone along 112th Avenue Southeast, between Southeast 6th and Bellefield Park Lane. Trees located where the light rail route will be built need to be removed in order to build the project. Sound Transit has worked closely with the City of Bellevue and Washington State Department of Ecology in development, review and approval of plans for clearing trees and understory vegetation. The preservation of trees to the maximum extent feasible has been a primary project goal throughout project design and into construction. Throughout the corridor, trees that are in close proximity to the work zone but not be negatively impacted by construction or light rail operations will be preserved with protective fencing.

Early morning work at I-90 in Bellevue

Crews plan to begin work between east and westbound I-90 as early as 6 a.m. Monday-Thursday and 4 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 16th.

In order to complete necessary work and reopen the Bellevue Way Southeast to I-90 west HOV ramp by 3 p.m. each day, crews need to begin work earlier. Crews will minimize noisier activities to normal working hours, M-F, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and equipment/vehicles will utilize broadband backup alarms.
