Getting to future Everett Link stations

Publish Date

Your voice matters — let’s build the Everett Link Extension together! The project is still in the planning phase, and your ideas can make a difference. Keep reading to learn how to share your thoughts on future station access projects.

What’s happening with Everett Link?

Everett Link Extension will extend north from Lynnwood City Center Station, through unincorporated Snohomish County, and into Everett, adding 16 miles of light rail and six new stations to the regional light rail network.

The project also includes one provisional station (provisional stations are funded for planning but not currently for design or construction) and the Operations and Maintenance Facility North, a facility to support Link light rail operations.

It’s a long process to bring a light rail station from design all the way to construction — expected delivery for Everett Link is currently scheduled for 2037-2041. Right now, Everett Link is in the planning phase, which means that the project team is working with partners and the community to identify where future stations and routes will be constructed.

While the final station locations are still to be determined, the project team is already thinking about how community members will walk, bike, and roll to those future stations. This summer, we are reaching out to communities in Lynnwood, Everett, and unincorporated Snohomish to ask how we can improve their journey to the future Everett Link stations.

Nonmotorized Station Access Allowance

How will we help provide safe and convenient access for all future riders of Everett Link?  Sound Transit has dedicated funding on all ST3 projects to support projects that improve walking, biking, and rolling to stations, called the “Nonmotorized Station Access Allowance.” Projects can be upgrades to existing nonmotorized infrastructure or completely new elements that close a gap, reduce a barrier, or expand the bicycle and pedestrian network. Projects can include sidewalks, crosswalks, signals, signage, lighting, bike routes and more.

On Everett Link, we collaborated with our jurisdictional partners to put together a list of candidate projects located throughout the entire project corridor. These projects are designed to create safe and convenient connections to stations from neighborhoods, businesses, and community gathering places.

Where and when can you share your thoughts? We are asking for your input on our initial list of nonmotorized station access allowance projects!  You can review and comment on the current list of candidate projects or suggest additional project ideas through an interactive map or online survey. Please share your thoughts by June 29

We are also holding an in-person public meeting at Cascade High School on June 5 and a virtual public meeting on June 17. Please join us to learn more and ask questions about the projects.

The project team will also be out and about at a variety of fairs and festivals throughout Snohomish County. Visit our events page to find out where and say hello.
